During the release of Shaxpir 4.6.0 (on August 7th, 2023) some users experienced a bug causing their accounts to be reset with an empty workspace, where all the user’s books, short stories, and other content would seem to have disappeared.

In reality, the content was still stored safely in the cloud, and the account needs to be reset in order to restore the original workspace.

We’ve sent an email to all such users, letting them know that they need to run these repair instructions. If you got an email from us, go ahead and follow along with these instructions. And if you need any help along the way, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at support@shaxpir.com.

The fist step to repair your account is to make sure you’re running the latest version of the app (4.6.2, or higher).

When you start the app, you might see a Software Update screen like this:

If so, go ahead and click the Restart button to install the update.

After restarting the app to install the update, you can verify the installation by checking the version number at the bottom of the screen. If you’re running 4.6.2 or higher, then click on the Debug Tools button, as shown below:

After clicking the Debug Tools button, you’ll see a popup window with a. Clear Local Cache button, like this:

Click that button, and when the popup disappears, go ahead and login as usual. When the login completes, you should find your original workspace, with all of your missing content restored.

If you have any trouble with these instructions, please get in touch with us! Likewise, if you didn’t get an email from us regarding these instructions, but you think your account has a broken workspace, let us know.

You can always reach us at support@shaxpir.com.
