Today, we’re proud to announce the release of SHAXPIR 4: Everyone, the fourth major version of our cloud-based writing platform for novelists, and the first version that makes the essential features of our platform available to anyone, anywhere. For free. Forever.
We designed Shaxpir for professional authors
From the very beginning, we designed Shaxpir to be a serious tool for serious authors, telling incredible stories and building deeply immersive worlds.
For example, Hollywood screenwriters and TV show-runners have a long tradition of creating detailed “story bibles” to keep track of their expansive catalogues of characters, locations, story-arcs, cliffhangers, and sub-plots.
When we released Shaxpir in private-beta two years ago, we wanted to bring those kinds of professional-quality storytelling tools to authors everywhere.
Consequently, every novel you write in Shaxpir has its own dedicated Notebook, where you can formulate the world of your story: building your characters, outlining your plot, mapping out relationships & symbolism, and attaching concept artwork. As your novel grows, you can link the chapters in your Manuscript to the pages in your Notebook, so that your “story bible” becomes a living document, evolving alongside the rest of your story.
Shaxpir even keeps a tally of your writing productivity every day, helping you track your progress as a novelist and achieve your goals as an author. Using Shaxpir is a lot like having a fitness-tracker for the pulse of your writing life.
Finally, when you eventually finish the final draft of your glorious novel, Shaxpir can export a clean, professional-quality ebook edition, for distribution to the Kindle or iBook stores.

Up until now, we’ve always charged a monthly subscription fee for access to our platform. You couldn’t access any of our writing tools without paying $7.99 a month.
But with today’s release of Shaxpir 4.0, we’re making the vast majority of the professional tools in our platform available to everyone, for free. All of our most sophisticated world-building tools, including manuscripts, notebooks, and concept artwork, are now included in our free Shaxpir 4: Everyone plan.
You can even export your completed novel as an industry-standard Microsoft Word file anytime, whether you’re ready to submit your manuscript to publishers, or you just want to share it with friends.
